Common uses

Blog cover image

A 1200px-wide WebP around 80% quality is often a practical balance between clarity and size.

Smaller attachments

Keep the aspect ratio and reduce the long edge to 1600px or less to shrink many photos substantially.

Transparent backgrounds

Use PNG or WebP to retain transparency. JPEG fills transparent areas with white.

What determines output quality

Pixel dimensions, format, image detail, and device limits all affect the final file.

Pixels and file size are different

Fewer pixels usually mean a smaller file, but color variation, detail, and format change how much it shrinks.

Choose a format for the content

JPEG suits photos, PNG preserves sharp graphics and transparency, and WebP often provides a smaller modern alternative.

Browser limits apply

Input is capped at 20 MiB and each output side at 8192px. Large images may take longer on memory-limited mobile devices.
